You’re doing what?!? “But I feel like you JUST moved into that place?!” or, “but what about all of that work and remodels?!”

Questions like these have been pretty common lately since we announced to our close family and friends (and Facebook) that we are putting our house on the market. If we’re still here come October 2019, it will have been 4 years since we’ve bought the place, and A LOT has happened to our little white house within that short amount of time. So, instead of replying to all of the comments and texts, I figured what better way than to write a blog post and tell our story 🙂

Dustin and I have been together for just shy of 7 years, and have shared 3 homes together – 2 rentals and then bought our first home. We’ve joked in the past that once 2.5ish years are up, it’s time to find a new place to live….but I’m starting to wonder, is this becoming an actual thing?? We weren’t even looking for a new house or place to live, not even in the least, but we happened to stumble upon a place that caught our eye and really made us start to consider continuing our nomadic trend.

So, now that it’s Facebook official and our house is officially on the market, I thought it would be fun to take a little trip down memory lane, and scroll through my camera roll to show some before after action on this little house that we’ve grown to love, and make our own!

Believe me, I know that in most cases, the amount of updates and renovations we’ve done take YEARS, but thankfully construction is what Dustin does for a living, and we channeled our inner Chip & Jo and made it happen!

Kitchen Renovation

before…

After!

As you can see, we TOTALLY transformed the kitchen top to bottom: new cabinets, flooring, paint, countertop, appliances, and knocked half of the wall out and installed a little bar to look into the living room!

Laundry Room

before…

After!!

We turned what used to be the bathroom into a fully function laundry room! Obviously took out the tub and toilet, installed the washer/dryer hook-up, some fresh paint and new flooring. Love the result!

Bathroom

before…(and during)

After!

We decided to turn the downstairs bedroom into the bathroom and this was also a complete renovation! New flooring, tub, paint, etc!

Downstairs Bedroom

before…(and during)

After!

Definitely our biggest transformation, this was previously an attached woodshed with dirt floors and plank walls. So anything and everything to make a new room actually livable as been done, all new sheetrock, electrical, heating, flooring, carpet, paint, lighting, everything! It’s still crazy to look back at those “before” pictures!!

Living Room

before…

After!

Wow! Such a change! The only thing we changed structurally was adding the cut out into the kitchen, but it’s amazing what some paint, new flooring and a little love can do to transform a house!!

Master Bedroom

before…

After!

Again, we did not make any structural changes upstairs, besides for turning the additional “bedroom” off of the master into a MASSIVE closet. Dustin built and installed the racks and organizer. Again, amazing what some paint, furniture and a little love will do to a place!

Some other updates we’ve done that are not as pretty or blog-worth are that we installed a new metal roof, water softener, submersible well pump, new flooring, and new plumbing, all within 3.5 years!

We have loved this house and it has been absolutely perfect for us, and just as it’s allowed us to grow and thrive, I’m thrilled to be able to give that opportunity to another family. It’s been extremely rewarding to renovate this house and give it some warmth, light and love, and we know that it’s time to start a new chapter, and to start a new season of life, and I’m so excited for the new owner to love this house as much as we have!

Our house is located in Waddington, NY (Madrid address) and sits on just shy of 12 acres.
